Theme

Healing the World - Art, Hope, and Shared Futures

This theme invites artists to reflect on how art can respond to the world we live in and the world we hope to create. There is no single interpretation; your perspective matters.

  • Personal experiences and emotional healing
  • Collective memory and cultural identity
  • The relationship between humans and nature
  • Contemporary issues such as conflict, migration, environment, and belonging
  • Visions of the future and expressions of hope

Submission and selection process

Digital submission. Artists submit artwork images and details online for initial review.

Jury review. Submissions are evaluated for relevance, creativity, originality, artistic quality, composition, and emotional impact.

Selection for exhibition. Selected artworks are invited to become part of the exhibition.

Artwork drop-off. Selected artists deliver physical artworks during the scheduled delivery period.

Digital artwork submission

  • File format: JPG or PNG
  • Minimum resolution: 300 dpi
  • Image must be clear, properly aligned, and photographed in natural lighting
  • Avoid shadows and glare

Artwork requirements

  • Painting, watercolor, oil, acrylic, illustration, or mixed media accepted
  • Original artworks only; no prints or reproductions
  • Maximum size: 24 x 30 in
  • Each student or artist may submit 1-5 artworks

Jury committee

Yan Baoyun

Artist. Yan Baoyun is a painter with over 20 years of artistic experience. He began his career in Beijing's Panjiayuan art district and later studied oil painting at Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts. Since moving to Canada in 2022, he has continued his artistic practice and teaching in White Rock.

Junyi Ji

Artist. Junyi Ji, also known as Alex Ji, holds a master's degree in oil painting from Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts and is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists. His work has received awards in international exhibitions, and he currently runs an art studio in Richmond.

Artwork presentation and packaging

  • Artwork must be framed or on a finished canvas
  • A secure hanging wire must be attached to the back
  • Hanging system must be stable and ready for installation
  • Wrap artwork in bubble wrap and protect frame corners
  • Clearly label the package with artist name, artwork title, and contact information
